Every feature
The complete list, including the ones that are missing on each browser. Better to know beforehand than to find out when you need it.
Detection and formats
HLS (.m3u8) and DASH (.mpd) streams, direct video (MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV…), audio (MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, WAV, Opus), images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, AVIF…), documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, CSV…), archives (ZIP, RAR, 7z, TAR, ISO) and web files (JS, CSS, HTML, JSON, XML).
There is also paste-a-URL for direct links, .m3u8 and .mpd, plus a right-click menu.
Subtitles are not downloaded: .vtt and .srt files are ignored on purpose so they do not clutter the list.
About downloading
A quality selector with estimated size, MP3 extraction on your own machine, trimming a section before downloading, batch download by selecting several, and a queue that runs heavy ones one at a time so memory is never exhausted.
Two filters keep things findable: by category (video, image, document…) and by specific extension within it, plus a minimum size that is the most effective way to keep ads out of the list.
DRM content is detected and marked as not downloadable, rather than producing an unusable encrypted file.
What changes per browser
On Chrome, Edge and derivatives: a folder per file type, direct-to-disk writing (no size ceiling), a side panel and an own window.
On Firefox: no folder picker — subfolders inside Downloads are used — and no side panel or own window, because they rely on APIs Firefox does not implement. Everything else works the same.
On ChromeOS the full Chrome build works, which matters on a machine where desktop software cannot be installed at all.
Step by step
- Set a folder per typeSettings → 📁. On Chrome and Edge it also removes the size ceiling.
- Raise the minimum size on ad-heavy sitesIt drops them from the list in one move.
- Use the category and extension filtersOn a page with a hundred files, that is the difference between finding something and not.
- Switch the window modeSide panel or own window if you do long downloads.
Frequently asked questions
Does it download subtitles?
No. .vtt and .srt files are deliberately ignored so they do not clutter the download list.
Can I download several files at once?
Yes, with multi-select mode. Light ones run in parallel and heavy ones queue up one at a time.
Why are options missing on Firefox?
Because they depend on the File System Access API, which Firefox does not implement. It affects the folder picker, the side panel and the own window.
What does the minimum-size filter do?
It hides anything smaller than the value you set. It is the fastest way to clear ads, icons and tracking pixels from the list.
