One honest warning before you install: the Chrome Web Store build does not download from YouTube. That is not a bug on our side — Google's store rules do not allow it. What it actually does
YouTube does not serve a video file: it sends video and audio separately, cut into segments. That is why the browser offers no "save as", and why link-pasting sites hand you odd qualities or files with no sound.
The extension reads what the player genuinely requests, fetches both tracks and muxes them into an MP4 without re-encoding: original quality, no conversion wait. If you only want the music, it extracts the MP3 straight from that same audio.
Qualities and long videos
You see which qualities exist and how big each one is before downloading, so a 2 GB file is never a surprise. On Chrome and Edge the download is written straight to disk as it goes, which removes the size ceiling: a three-hour talk or a full film downloads without exhausting memory.
Why the Chrome package is separate
Chrome Web Store policy explicitly forbids extensions that download from YouTube, and we comply:
the build published there has YouTube disabled. The Firefox and Microsoft Edge stores have no
such restriction, so those versions are complete. And if you want to stay on Chrome, the package
installs in a minute from chrome://extensions with developer mode on.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the Chrome Web Store extension not work for this?
Because that store's rules do not allow downloading from YouTube, and we follow them. The Firefox build, the Edge build and the package downloaded from this page all do.
Does downloading lose quality?
No. YouTube sends video and audio separately and the extension muxes them without re-encoding, so you get exactly the quality you picked.
Can I get just the audio as MP3?
Yes. It is extracted from the video’s own audio track, with no lossy conversion step in between.
What about very long videos?
On Chrome and Edge the download writes to disk as it progresses, so there is no practical size limit. Long streams and full films are fine.
Do I need to sign up or pay?
Not to start. There is a free daily quota and a paid plan if you need more volume.
